Designed by Ferrum Forge, produced by Massdrop, and manufactured in China by WE Knife, the Dao has been meticulously crafted by the best minds at all three companies, resulting in an incredible everyday carry flipper knife with absolutely impeccable design cues. From perfected balance to amazing machine work, so much went into this knife to cause it to feel so right in-hand. Some of my favorite aspects about the Dao include its enlarged finger choil for choking up, jimping on the spine of the blade, a super versatile modified sheepsfoot blade, and butter-smooth flipper action assisted by caged ball bearings. This specific model of the Dao that we have in stock, serialized CN018, and SKU’d MDX-25567-5, comes with a satin finished CPM-S35VN blade in the signature modified sheepsfoot style, with a flat saber grind. The titanium handle is where this guy really shines, though, as the face side is given a circuit-board styled machining, allowing for extra texture and tons of personality. The handle itself has been finished green, while the flats of the machined areas are given a bronze finish, really giving this knife a rustic and apocalyptic look. The pocket clip and backspacer are also titanium, being finished bronze.

Condition-wise, I would be surprised to learn that this knife was ever used. It appears it may have been carried and operated here and there as a fidget flipper, but there are no signs on the blade of legitimate use. A little bit of pocket lint under the clip is what leads me to believe it may have been carried here and there, and a slight bit of buildup near the pivot shows it was likely flipped here and there. However, other than a little bit of buildup within the machining, the handle, like the blade, has no obvious blemishes, nicks or scratches. The pocket clip looks like it was given a factory worn-look, but doesn’t have any scratches otherwise. The action is smooth, but still has some to be worked in, while the lock-up appears to be 100%. This knife comes with all of its original packaging, including box, zip pouch, and microfiber cloth. It also comes with an extra blasted deep-carry pocket clip.
