The Chaparral line of knives by Spyderco are a family of smaller-sized lock-back folders that perform as an incredible everyday carry pocket knife. A main characteristic of the Chapparal’s are that they offer a wide variety of handle materials and handle treatments. This C152WDP model is no exception, coming with gorgeous Birdseye Maple wood handle scales.

Featuring knots within the wood grain that resemble bird’s eyes, this wood style is aptly named. While it is not a specific type of Maple wood, the Birdseye feature comes from a growth anomaly that mainly affects hard wood maple. Extremely unique, every pattern is one-of-a-kind due to the dramatic grain structure resulting from the anomaly.

Paired up with a satin finished CTS-XHP stainless steel blade in a leaf-shape, you’ve got yourself a reliable EDC folder with tons of personality. Add on a round thumb hole for easy deployment, a strong lock-back lock-up, and a reversible wire tip-up pocket clip, and this model of the Chaparral quickly becomes a fan favorite.

Overall, I would say that the condition of this Chaparral is very close to brand new. The only sign of any blemishing on the knife is a bit of wear near the pivot, showing that it has likely been opened and closed a handful of times over its life. This is nothing significant, however, and rubs away pretty easily. The pocket clip still has a plastic protection slip, leading me to believe it hasn’t been carried. The edge looks pristine and the blade itself appears to be untouched. This knife comes with its original box, in good shape, but it has a sticker on the top showing its original dealer, Kittery Trading Post.
